The rock monastery “St. Ivan Pusti” is located at the foot of the Vratsa Balkan, 6 km from the town of Vratsa. This unique complex includes a number of buildings, of which only the church and several rock monasteries are preserved today. It is assumed that the church in the monastery complex was built in the 16th century. However, after some of the top layer of painted icons fell off, it was discovered that other frescoes were present underneath, dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries.

The road to the monastery is on a paved road, which facilitates access to this exceptional monastery complex, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy the history and spiritual atmosphere of this place.
